III. General Strategy for Developing Satellite
Communication and Radio &TV Broadcasting
- pursue a policy to develop video-text,
video-conferencing, satellite paging, remote tele-education and telemedicine
networks by establishing a satellite high speed information infrastructure;
- take necessary measures to ensure that
the customers could receive radio and TV programs directly via satellite.
- develop a policy for introducing GMPCS
system in consistency with the national backbone network development policy
and national security policy, encourage foreign and domestic private sector
investments in this field providing necessary authorisations for establishing
such services;
- improve coverage and quality of radio
broadcasting and TV transmission by digitalising radio and TV transmission
and receiving systems and establishing satellite earth stations in urban and
rural areas;
- develop the radio and TV networks in
confirmity with the future development plans of the backbone telecommunication
network;
- modernise the equipment and facilities
of radio and TV studios upgrading to the international standard level;
- establish high quality cable TV network
in urban areas by encouraging private sector investment and introducing full
competition and expand the coverage of cable TV service.
